Patients with Spinal Cord Injury can experience multiple healthcare problems that may impact their transition to rehabilitation. It is the goal of the healthcare team to reduce these common medical complications to improve outcomes and establish a discharge plan to promote successful transition to rehabilitation in patients with Spinal Cord Injury.
In our June CE webinar we have asked Tara Grimes, MOT, OTR/L, CCM to speak on this important topic and address your questions.
To share how teams work together to achieve successful transitions of care for patients with Spinal Cord Injuries. Participants will validate and expand their understanding of people with spinal cord injuries and the common medical complications experienced in the acute care setting that may impact their discharge disposition. Tara Grimes, MOT, OTR/L, CCM, Access Case Manager, Shepherd Center
Tara joined the Admissions Department at Shepherd Center in 2011. She had previously worked for Shepherd Center as an occupational therapist in the ICU and Outpatient Therapy Department. She has experience in all aspects of rehabilitation, including acute care, inpatient, sub-acute, outpatient and home health. Tara covers Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.
As an OT, I have a passion for helping the spinal cord and brain injury population become as independent as possible. I’m thrilled to be a part of the Shepherd Center team and give patients from the mid-Atlantic region the opportunity to receive therapy at the best place possible.”
Tara received her bachelor’s degree in health science and her master’s degree in occupational therapy from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Penn. She enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and son. She is an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, and her hobbies include skiing, hiking, running and reading.
